I finally upgraded my PC with a new graphics card and I'm looking for a visually stunning, single-player game to truly put it through its paces and get lost in. I loved the immersive worlds of games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 after its fixes, but I'm feeling overwhelmed by the current options. What are your personal picks for the best PC games from the last year or two that offer a compelling narrative and breathtaking graphics, especially in genres like action-adventure or RPG?
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the standout for PC RPGs right now. The writing and branching choices feel meaningful, and the visuals are lush on modern GPUs. If you want a single-player experience that rewards exploration and role-playing, this is hard to beat.
Alan Wake II nails atmosphere and storytelling. Visually it’s stunning, and the pacing is very cinematic. It’s very much a narrative-driven ride, so if you want more action-forward stuff, it might not scratch that itch.
Starfield is huge and gorgeous, with lots of personality in its NPCs and planets. Some quests drag, and the opening can feel slow, but the scale and systems depth are impressive. If you wanted a 'lost in a world' vibe with a solid story, this fits the bill.
Hogwarts Legacy offers a wonderfully realized world and big visuals. The story is serviceable and the side content is charming; performance is strong on a capable PC. If you want a fantasy adventure that looks and feels premium, it’s a strong option.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty is a narrative upgrade—tight, focused, with great visuals and a city that feels alive. It’s a great choice if you already loved CP77 and want a strong single-player arc without a huge open-world grind.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor delivers cinematic action and a nice balance of story and exploration. The world looks fantastic, combat feels responsive, and the game isn’t as sprawling as some RPGs, which can be a plus if you want a tighter experience left to enjoy on a single playthrough.
