I generally approach movie remakes with a lot of skepticism, but I recently watched the 2022 version of 'All Quiet on the Western Front' and was completely blown by how it re-contextualized the source material for a modern audience while retaining its brutal power. It's made me reconsider my bias and wonder what other remakes actually improve upon or meaningfully re-interpret their originals rather than just cashing in on nostalgia. For film buffs, what are some of the best movie remakes that you believe genuinely justified their existence, either by updating the story for a new era, fixing flaws in the original, or using a different cultural perspective, and what specific elements did they change or enhance that made the new version stand on its own?
